KDDI increases profit despite mobile blip
Japanese number two operator KDDI reported operating revenues for its Q3 fiscal year of JPY2.6 trillion (US$34.4 billion), up 2.9 percent year on year, with operating income up 3.3 percent year on year at JPY384 billion. Despite smartphone sales for the period growing by 50 percent with more than 3.5 million units sold, net income for KDDI’s mobile business dropped by 13 percent compared to the same quarter last year.
