Wmode launches app discovery and merchandising service

28 Oct 2011

Mobile apps and data services company Wmode has launched a new technology to boost the discovery and merchandising of mobile apps.

AppCarousel allows users to view and access groups of apps and content relevant to their interests in the brands they trust. The service creates a 3D carousel that can be viewed on any smartphone, tablet or desktop, according to Wmode.

The idea is for users to avoid having to trawl through huge app stores to find apps that suit them. The carousels can be shared with others, meaning that personal recommendations and social networking can be used to boost the discovery of apps.

The technology can be used by operators, device manufacturers, software companies, app publishers and developers to showcase their digital content to users. AppCarousel is currently in private beta but will be launched in November.

“The ability for organisations to easily curate and share relevant content with their audience was an obvious gap in the app economy.” Wmode CEO Emanuel Bertolin said.
